In respect of infrastructure and environment, during the year 2003-2004, major infrastructure improvement have been undertaken in respect of repairs and renovation of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics building involving an outlay of approximately Rs.100.56 lacs.

The NM College is a prestigious institution, admission to which is very much sought after by the student community of Mumbai. The building was in a dilapidated condition and had become structurally weak. Steps were therefore taken to strengthen its structure and improve the environment of classrooms which are attended by over 5000 students daily. The lecture hall, on the second and 10 third floor have been renovated with air-conditioning facility. The administrative blocks on the ground floor including the Principal’s room have also been fully renovated. The equipment, furniture and fixtures provided under the renovation plan were of the value of Rs.117.28 lacs approximately.

At the SBM Polytechnic, steps were taken to give a facelift to the inside of the building. Proper space was provided in the administrative block for the use of the Principal. His office, the Committee Room, a lounge at the front of the building and the surrounding garden were also renovated. The Computer Centre and the Information Technology Centre have been equipped with the necessary equipment such as computers and other facilities including air-conditioning to facilitate teaching of Information Technology. An amount of Rs.249.98 lacs was spent on the various works including the renovation work at the Polytechnic during the year under report.

The project of CN Memorial School & ND Parekh Pre-Primary School was almost completed
during the year under report including the completion of the swimming pool in the compound of the school. An expenditure of Rs.88.79 lacs was incurred during the year on various works and furniture, equipment, etc. provided in the school. A total outlay of Rs.1097.78 lacs has been incurred on the construction and setting up of the school since the year 1996-97. The total outlay incurred on various constructions and major repairs/renovation works and the equipment provided during the year under report was of the value of Rs.948.62 lacs.
