About Us

SVKM’s Ketkiben Mukeshbhai Patel Central Library, established in 2023, is located in the heart of Shirpur city. It aims to provide international-standard facilities to students, scholars, and citizens of the Shirpur. The premises are well-furnished, centrally air-conditioned, and under CCTV surveillance. The reading room has cushioned chairs with independent seating arrangements and charging sockets. K.M.P. Central Library has developed an excellent collection of books, journals, and non-book materials across a wide range of subjects.

The library has a rich collection of 10,000 volumes of a wide range of various subjects as follows:

The Central Library competitive examination section provide a wide range of resource books, manuals and exam-specific guides for students appearing for prestigious national- and state-level competitive examinations.

The Centre Library provides a dedicated digital library with 60 machines where students can access databases and A-V material.

The Central Library is fully automated with RFID Technology and Koha software for library operations. The Central Library has adopted an open access system so as to facilitate readers to have easy access to the library resources.

General Rules & Regulations

Enrolment of Members:

• Every intending member shall have his/her name registered in the respective library office by applying in the prescribed form, which shall be available, at the circulation desk.
•  Every intending member shall be required to submit the duly filled form and attached necessary documents.

Library Discipline:

• Membership/Identity cards are required to be shown at the entrance on demand.
• Personal belongings are not allowed inside the Library. It should be deposited at the Property Counter and collected back on the same day; otherwise, Library will not be responsible for any loss.
• Members can take their personal books into Library after necessary checking by library staff.
• Readers should handle the library reading material carefully and should not damage it (writing, Marking & Tearing books).
• Failing to do so /damage library materials or property, the person concerned shall be liable to pay the replacement cost. In addition, his membership may be cancelled at the discretion of the authority.
• Members are expected to maintain strict silence and conduct themselves with dignity to maintain an atmosphere for study and research.
• If any system is not working properly, immediately inform the Library staff, and do not try to repair it yourself.
• Smoking, spitting, sleeping, loud conversations, group gatherings, writing on tables, spilling ink, chewing gum, or consuming food are strictly prohibited in the library.

Loan Privilege:

• Library books and periodicals are not issued and must be read only within the library premises.
• No library material can be taken out of the library without permission. Unauthorized removal of anything belonging to the library will be treated as theft and dealt with accordingly.

Loss of Books:

• In case of loss of Library books, the reader has to submit a new book or pay the recent cost of the lost book.

Loss of Library Card:

• The loss of a Library card should be immediately reported to the circulation desk in writing.
• On request, a duplicate card may be issued within three days from the application, and for that, the member has to pay Rs.50/- for the duplicate card.

General Rules:
 

• Every member who enters the Library should sign the entry register.
• The Use of Mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the Library.
• Reposition the chairs and switch off the lights and fans after use.
• The Library membership card will not be transferable.
• Readers are requested not to disturb the arrangement of books on the shelves.
• Any constructive suggestions from readers will be most welcomed.
• Members will maintain strict discipline and decorum in the Library.
• Readers are requested to stand in queue during rush hours.
• No one should remove newspaper/ current issues or periodical on display without prior permission.
• Readers should not misbehave with library staff.
• Ask for help from Library staff if you cannot find your required book.
• Any misbehaviour/surfing other than above sources/violation of any of the above rules will invite strict disciplinary action.
• The Authority may relax/change the library rules from time to time.

Digital Library Usage Policy for Members:

• Membership I.D. card is compulsory to access Digital/e-library.
• Every member who enters the Digital Library should sign the Digital Library Access register.
• The Digital Library is to be used strictly for academic and research purposes. Browsing dating sites, playing games, online chatting, and accessing social networking sites are strictly prohibited.
• Login I.D. Passwords of various e-resources or online resources will be communicated to the students and faculty members from time to time, and access to those resources will be I.P. based which cannot be accessed beyond the boundaries of the library campus.
• Members need to handle computers, hardware, software and accessories very carefully. Members will be held responsible for any damage or injury done to the computer accessories or other property belonging to the library and shall be required to replace such material or other property damaged or injured and shall have to pay the total value as determined by the Library authorities. 
• Users are required to create a folder on the desktop to store the downloaded documents temporarily and then take the help of library staff to transfer the same to own storage devices. Use of secondary storage devices is not allowed without prior permission.
• Users should not remove/unplug computer cables/connections, network cables, and other peripherals/accessories in the digital library.
• Changing the configurations, settings and display of the Computers kept in the Digital Library is prohibited.
• Members must take care of their Pen drives, CD/DVD ROMs, Laptop, Cell Phones, Wallets, etc.
• For Each user, a stretch is allowed only for two hours for computer use in Digital Library.
• Do not share the Digital Library computer with any other peripheral system or computer.
• DO NOT INSTALL OR UNINSTALL any software program(s).
• If any system is not working properly, immediately inform the library staff, and do not try to repair it yourself.
• Internet and intranet access is limited to academic pursuits only, i.e., subscribed online databases, University websites/NPTEL web courses/DELNET/ INFLIBNET and open source educational sites.
• Members cannot carry eatables and drinks in the entire Library premises.
